Hope your night was more peaceful than mine. I assume you saw the morning Prophet, with the news about Cadmus Mulciber's house. I was called in, of course, so I got no sleep at all.

However! The good news is, I was working last night -- well, THAT'S not good news, given it was a Saturday. But. With everyone off on holiday, the office is always really quiet and I had a checklist of very specific things I wanted to get done yesterday evening. I had promised myself I'd get through all of them (and I do try my best to keep my commitments, you know!)

And all my tasks got checked off. So, at least I was productive before I got called in -- there was absolutely nothing to be done, you know? I helped set up wards to keep it contained but it was Fiendfyre and that stuff's nearly impossible to put out once it really gets going. Nothing's left this morning but ash. Cadmus Mulciber was at the Gala. We think some of his people were killed but we're still trying to chase those down.

Anyway, exhausting! I'm going to bed.

Do you have any New Year's Eve plans?

I saw the Prophet article, yes. Merlin...Fiendfyre?! I've heard of it, but I've never seen it. Is there any idea what caused it?

I didn't have as exciting a night as you (and three cheers for productivity, by the way; well done, you) although it was certainly pleasant; I met up with a few of my mates from school and we stayed out rather late, splitting pitchers of beer.

My mum was the one who had the exciting evening. Fox in the hen house, but it's all sorted now, fortunately, with very little loss, all things considered. One hen was injured, but the whole flock is safe now. Good thing, because there were more than three dozen (hens, chicks and roosters).

Mum was all in a dither, but we caught the fox. Tracked down and destroyed its den, too, so hopefully no other foxes will be moving in and taking over where that one left off.

I don't have plans for New Year's Eve...yet. Are you open to making some together?

If it's the River Thames display you had in mind, I know a place that serves coffee and decadent desserts, with excellent window views over the Museum of Curiosities. It's a good location for watching the New Year's Eve fireworks. (I prefer not shivering out in the cold myself).

If you like the idea, why don't you suggest a time that's convenient for you? We can meet at the bench in front of the Ministry where we've eaten lunch together, and apparate to the restaurant from there. However, I know it's last minute, and perhaps you've made other plans? If so, I'll entirely understand.
